Niels is a founder and managing director of Green Giraffe and has a strong track record of bringing complex transactions to financial close across different markets and circumstances.

Over the past 10 years, he has led and supervised transaction teams on projects in the renewable energy sector in multiple countries including, most recently, Baltic II & Co (1.5 GW, Poland, 2019), Borssele 3&4 (740 MW, the Netherlands, 2018), or Sunport (31 MW, the Netherlands, 2016) while at the same time managing the growth of the company from 10 people in 2 offices to 100 people in 6 offices.

Previously, Niels was at Econcern, where he led the development and financing of the Belwind I project (330 MW, Belgium, 2009), and before that at Rabobank for 4 years where he led the financing (senior debt and mezzanine) of the Q7 offshore wind project (120 MW, the Netherlands, 2006) and played an active role in the negotiations for the C-Power phase 1 offshore wind project (30 MW, Belgium, 2007), the first two ever to be project-financed.

He started his career as assistant auditor at a predecessor of Deloitte and left auditing shortly after obtaining his degree when, at that time, working for KPMG.
